I. Terms of Service 服務條款
By using our services, you agree to follow the terms outlined below. Please review these carefully before booking or attending lessons. We reserve the right to update these terms, and any changes will be posted on our website.
1. Trial Lesson (體驗課)
- Trial Lesson Requirement: All new students or groups must schedule a trial lesson before booking any course packages.
- Eligibility: Trial lessons are limited to students who have not previously enrolled with Bitesize Chinese and are restricted to one session per student.
- Reservation: Trial lesson bookings and payments must be completed at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson to ensure adequate preparation.
- Payment Method: All tuition payments must be made through Bitesize Chinese accounts (bank transfer, credit card, or PayPal). Cash payments to instructors or staff are not accepted unless advised or approved.
- Fee Coverage: Course fees include third-party payment processing but do not cover card processing fees incurred by your bank.
- Agreement: Payment serves as your acknowledgment of these terms.
- Notice Submission: Reschedule or cancel a lesson with at least 24 hours’ written notice to avoid charges.
- Notification Method: Submit rescheduling and cancellation requests through the Rescheduling/Cancellation form on our website or via LINE.
- Cancellation Terms:
- More than 60 days before the lesson date: 95% of the lesson fee (plus 5% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- 59 days before the lesson and the day of the lesson (before it starts): 90% of the lesson fee (plus 10% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- After the lesson has started: No Refund
2. Private 1-on-1 Course (私人一對一包班)
- Trial Lesson Requirement: All new students must schedule a trial lesson before booking any course packages.
- Minimum Lesson Duration: Private courses require a minimum of 60 minutes per session.
- Package Timeframe:
- Small Bite Package (12hr): Valid for 14 weeks after the first lesson.
- Big Bite Package (24hr): Valid for 8 weeks after the first lesson.
- Curriculum Pricing: The package pricing is based on the Featured Curriculum (Contemporary Chinese Course Series) or other approved course books.
- Personalized Option: Students requesting different curricula will be offered personalized pricing and a study plan after consultation.
- Reservation: Bookings and payments must be completed at least 7 days in advance.
- Payment Method: Tuition must be paid through Bitesize Chinese accounts; cash payments to staff or instructors are not accepted unless otherwise approved.
- Fee Coverage: Course fees cover third-party processing fees but do not cover card fees charged by your bank.
- Agreement: Payment acknowledges your acceptance of these terms.
- Notice Submission: Written notice must be provided at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson to reschedule or cancel without charges.
- Emergency Cancellation: One emergency cancellation per term is allowed with at least 2 hours’ notice.
- Notification Method: Reschedule or cancel through the Rescheduling/Cancellation form on the website or via LINE.
- Withdrawal Terms:
- More than 60 days prior to the course start date: 95% of the course fee (plus 5% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- 59 days prior to the course and up to the first lesson: 90% of the course fee (plus 10% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- After the 1st lesson and before completing 1/3 of the course hours: 70% of the course fee
- After completing 1/3 of the course hours: 50% of the course fee
- After completing more than 1/3 of the course hours: No Refund
3. Private Group Course (私人團體包班)
- Trial Lesson Requirement: All new groups must schedule a trial lesson before booking any course packages.
- Group Setting: Preformed groups by students of 2-6 members with similar language levels, determined by the course instructor.
- Minimum Lesson Duration: Each group session requires a minimum of 1.5 hours.
- Package Timeframe:
- Small Bite Package (12hr): Valid for 14 weeks after the first lesson.
- Big Bite Package (24hr): Valid for 8 weeks after the first lesson.
- Curriculum Pricing: Pricing is based on the Featured Curriculum (Contemporary Chinese Course Series) or other approved course books.
- Personalized Option: Groups requesting different curricula will be provided with personalized pricing and a study plan after consultation.
- Reservation: Bookings and payments must be completed at least 7 days in advance.
- Payment Method: Payments must be made through Bitesize Chinese accounts; cash payments are not accepted unless otherwise approved.
- Fee Coverage: Course fees include third-party processing but exclude any card fees from your bank.
- Agreement: Payment serves as acknowledgment of these terms.
- Advised Rescheduling: It’s advised to reschedule if more than half of the group cannot attend. If not rescheduled, the lesson will continue and be recorded for absentees.
- Notice Submission: Written notice must be provided at least 24 hours (as a group) in advance to cancel or reschedule without charges. All group members must confirm before submitting the notice.
- Emergency Cancellation: One emergency cancellation per term is allowed with at least 2 hours’ notice.
- Notification Method: Submit notices through the Rescheduling/Cancellation form or via LINE.
- Change in Group Size: If a group member withdraws, course fees may be adjusted, and new pricing will be provided after consultation. Changes must be made at least 7 days before the scheduled lesson.
- Full Group Withdrawal Terms:
- More than 60 days prior to the course start date: 95% of the course fee (plus 5% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- 59 days prior to the course and up to the first lesson: 90% of the course fee (plus 10% of the amount collected in excess of NT$1,000)
- After the 1st lesson and before completing 1/3 of the course hours: 70% of the course fee
- After completing 1/3 of the course hours: 50% of the course fee
- After completing more than 1/3 of the course hours: No Refund
4. Regular Group Courses (常規團班)
- Trial Lesson Requirement: All new groups must schedule a trial lesson before booking any course packages.
- Level Assessment: Students will receive a level assessment after the trial lesson or need approval from the instructor to enroll without a trial.
- Group Setting: Designed for 2-6 students. Group placement will be based on similar proficiency levels determined by the instructor.
- Minimum Lesson Duration: Each group session requires a minimum of 1.5 hours.
- Curriculum Pricing: Pricing is based on the featured curriculum or other approved course books.
- Acceptance of Schedule: Ensure the lesson times fit your schedule before booking.
- Reservation: Bookings and payments must be completed before the end of the application period.
- Payment Method: Payments must be made through Bitesize Chinese accounts; cash payments are not accepted unless otherwise advised.
- Fee Coverage: Course fees include third-party processing fees but exclude any fees incurred by your bank.
- Agreement: Payment acknowledges your acceptance of these terms.
- Make-Up Lessons: Make-up video lessons are available for students who provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Absent lessons cannot be refunded.
- Emergency Cancellation: One emergency cancellation per term is allowed with at least 2 hours’ notice.
- Notification Method: Submit absences via the Absent form on our website or LINE.
- Minimum Enrollment: Courses require a minimum of 3 students. We reserve the right to cancel courses with insufficient demand and offer alternatives, such as:
- Continuing with a smaller group size and adjusted lesson duration
- Switching to a private course with prorated pricing
- Requesting a full refund
- Switching Groups: Requests to switch groups require written notice and a consultation with the instructor. A $500NT administrative fee will apply. If no group is available, students may switch to a private course with prorated pricing.
- Withdrawal Terms:

5. General Policy (其他條款)
- Recording and Photography: Online and in-person sessions or classes may be recorded or photographed for class activities, makeup video lessons, or school marketing purposes. Your consent will be obtained before any use of materials containing your appearance and personal data.
- Email Collection: We may collect your email via our website or registration forms to add to our newsletter list. You may opt out of receiving newsletters at any time.
- Safekeeping of Valuables: Bitesize Chinese is not responsible for the safekeeping of valuables during in-person lessons, unless the loss is due to the negligence of Bitesize Chinese or its employees.
- Unforeseen Circumstances: Bitesize Chinese reserves the right to cancel or reschedule lessons in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as natural disasters, governmental actions, or infrastructure failures. In such cases, we will notify students as soon as possible and provide alternative arrangements.
- Data Privacy: For details on how your personal data is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
II. Consumer Rights 消費者權益
At Bitesize Chinese, we are dedicated to protecting your rights as a consumer, ensuring transparency, fairness, and satisfaction in all aspects of our services.
1. Right to Clear Information (資訊透明權): We are committed to providing clear and accurate information about our Mandarin lessons, including course descriptions, pricing, and schedules. You have the right to know all fees, terms, and conditions before making a purchase or booking a class.
2. Right to Safe Payment and Data Privacy (安全付款與隱私權保護): Your personal and payment information is protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We use secure payment gateways to ensure the safety of your data. We do not share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except when necessary for completing transactions or as required by law.
3. Right to Refunds and Cancellations (退款與取消權): You are entitled to a refund if you cancel a class or service within the terms set out in our General Cancellation Policy. Refunds will be processed according to the method of payment used during purchase. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to qualify for a refund or rescheduling. Refund requests made after this window may be subject to approval.
4. Right to Modify or Reschedule Services (修改與更改服務權): You have the right to reschedule lessons within the limits of our rescheduling policy. Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be done at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. If a lesson is canceled or postponed by Bitesize Chinese, you will be offered a rescheduling option or an extension of your current course term.
5. Right to Quality and Professional Services (高品質與專業服務權): Our instructors are highly qualified professionals dedicated to delivering top-quality Mandarin instruction. If the service you receive does not meet the standards we have promised, you have the right to raise concerns with our customer service team for further investigation.
6. Right to Dispute Resolution (爭議解決權): If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, you have the right to file a complaint or dispute. Our team will review your case and work with you to reach a satisfactory resolution. We aim to resolve disputes in a fair and transparent manner, typically within 7 business days.
7. Right to Withdraw from Services (退出服務權): You may withdraw from any ongoing class package or service before completion. Refunds or credits for remaining classes will be handled in accordance with our General Cancellation Policy.
8. Right to Access and Correct Personal Data (個人資料存取與更正權): You have the right to access and request corrections to your personal information held by Bitesize Chinese. Requests can be submitted via email at hello@bitesizechinese.com.
9. Right to Safe and Non-Discriminatory Services (安全與不歧視服務權): Bitesize Chinese guarantees a safe, non-discriminatory environment for all students, regardless of race, gender, nationality, or age. Any form of harassment or discrimination will not be tolerated, and you have the right to report any such incidents to our team for immediate action.
III. General Cancellation Policy 取消政策
We aim to balance flexibility with fairness for both our students and instructors. For detailed information on cancellations and refunds, please consult the specific terms of your course package outlined in the above section.
1. Cancellation Notice (取消通知): Cancellations should be submitted in writing at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in the forfeiture of the lesson fee.
2. Notification Method (通知方式): All cancellation and rescheduling requests must be made in writing using the methods outlined in your course package. This typically includes:
- The Rescheduling/Cancellation form on our website
- LINE Group
3. Refunds and Rescheduling (退款及更改課程): Eligibility for refunds and the ability to reschedule lessons depend on the specific terms of your package. Generally, refunds may be available for cancellations made before the course begins, and rescheduling requests made with adequate notice may be accommodated without charges.
4. Emergency Cancellations (緊急取消): Emergency cancellations (e.g., due to illness) may be allowed with short notice. Please refer to your package details for specific allowances and policies.
5. Group Lessons (團體課程): Cancellation policies for group lessons may vary based on group size and package type. If some group members are unable to attend, the lesson may still proceed, and make-up materials may be provided.
6. Course Withdrawal (課程退出): Withdrawal policies, including eligibility for partial refunds, will vary depending on the course package. Please review your package details for specific withdrawal terms.
7. Additional Notes (附加條款)
- No Refunds for Late or No-Shows: Lessons missed without prior notice or late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) are generally non-refundable.
- Refund Processing Time: If a refund is approved, it will be processed within 7 business days
